The 9 Key Questions to ask when deciding which company to do your drone training with...

October 01, 2019

Hey everybody and welcome to the blog!

In today's blog post, we're going to wrap up the series of blogs surrounding how to choose the most appropriate CAA Drone Training Company for your needs. As you will no doubt have seen, there are lots of options out there ranging in price and value.

So, with so many different options, packages, prices, locations available; how do you decide which company is the best for you. Bear in mind there is no 'perfect solution for all circumstances' and the package which looks great to one person might not take all of the boxes for another. If this were the case, we'd all be driving the same car is and shopping in the same supermarket!

If you're reading this post, it's likely that you are at the enquiry and/or decision phase of your buyer's journey. So, to make the process as easy as possible for you we have collated the nine questions which we get asked most often and are most useful to have the answers to when trying to decide which CAA NQE you are going to use in order to get your drone 'licence'.

In no particular order those questions are:

  1. How long has the NQE been training students?
  2. How long has the company been trading?
  3. How many PfCO Students have they trained?
  4. What experience do they have of commercial drone operations?
  5. Do they currently carry out commercial drone operations?
  6. What is the availability/timeframe for Flight Tests & Operations Manual turnaround times from submission?
  7. How many verified reviews / testimonials do they have? Can you see them?
  8. What level of support do they provide AFTER your PfCO? Do they have full-time training/customer service staff or will you have to wait for an answer whilst they're away on their primary job, such as flying for an airline or carrying out commercial drone work in the field.
  9. What level of business advice, support and guidance can they offer? What business experience do THEY have themselves?

The answers to these questions should provide you with a very detailed and insightful overview of the companies which you are considering completing your CAA drone training course with.

In order to make things even more simple when 'ringing around', we've created a simple spreadsheet which is available to everybody to download which lists those questions and also has space for the answers and the NQE details so that you can keep up-to-date with everyone that you spoken to and what they have told you.

You can find the spreadsheet by clicking the link here!

If there are any more questions that you can think of, which you think we should add to the sheet, then please drop them into the comments below and we'll look to get them added ASAP! :)

As always, make sure you sign up to the newsletter at the bottom of the page so that we can keep you up-to-date with all of the latest offers, announcements and news as and when it's drops.

Fly safe and blue skies

it's also important that we put the £65k salary into perspective too... To some, it's an astronomical amount of money. To others, its 'normal' and to some it may even be pocket-change... Either way, to earn £65,000 per year means that you've got to earn £178.08p EVERY SINGLE DAY. Which, if the hype is to be believed, shouldn't be too hard with a drone, right?
