The A2 CofC will allow people to operate in the A2 Subcategory of the Open Category. If you are flying a 'C2 CE Certified Drone', then you can fly down to 30 metres of uninvolved persons in the 'normal speed' mode and down to just 5 metres of uninvolved persons in a 'low-speed' mode - rather than the 150 metres that is usually associated with the Open Category.

Once you have your recommendation certificate it is as simple as copying the details for any current remote pilots inside the PfCO holders CAA drone operations manual and replacing their details with those of the new remote pilot.
There is no need to tell the CAA of this change and the new remote pilot can operate from the moment that they are added to the operations manual.

The thing we're looking at tackling here is how to add a drone into your operations manual and the process is actually really straightforward. It is literally as simple as copying the drain information you currently have in your manual and then finding the relevant details for your new drone, then adding them into/replacing the relevant parts of the copied information.

Technically, with the changes to the wording in the permission for commercial operation, any standard permissions holder could now fly their drone over a congested area however, there are also elements of the air navigation order AND the PfCO wording itself which are worth bearing in mind before conducting any of these kinds of operations.

The answer is actually fairly straightforward and short. Holding a PfCO has absolutely no impact on your ability to go and fly a drone or any other kind of model aircraft for your own pleasure. There are however, a few things that are worth bearing in mind and been aware of which seemed to confuse some people who operate drones both commercially and in their spare time for their own enjoyment.
